(Kuching, 21st) The 2025 Sarawak State-level Malaysia Day celebration will be held in Bintulu, with a focus on showcasing the area’s rapid development as an emerging industrial cluster, under the theme "Sarawak Towards a Prosperous and Progressive Malaysia." The event aims to highlight Sarawak’s achievements and progress since joining Malaysia.
Datuk Seri Dr. Rundi, Minister of Sarawak Food Industry, Primary Industries and Regional Development, and also the organizing minister for the 2025 Sarawak Malaysia Day celebration, stated that the festivities will kick off on September 14 with a thanksgiving and prayer ceremony organized by the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor), followed by a thanksgiving prayer at the Assyakirin Mosque on the next day (September 15).
On the morning of September 16, a Malaysia Day long-distance run will be held, with a grand celebration taking place in the evening at the old Bintulu airport, expected to attract around 10,000 attendees.
"This celebration will serve as a platform to fully showcase the development journey of Sarawak — past, present, and future.
Special attention will be placed on Bintulu’s rise as a new industrial cluster, a development that has also captured the spotlight at the World Economic Forum. We eagerly anticipate the 2025 Sarawak Malaysia Day celebration, as it will highlight the significant achievements of Bintulu and the whole of Sarawak." Dr. Rundi stated this in a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
Dr. Rundi made these remarks during a press conference following a courtesy call to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari at the Nation Warriors Tower yesterday.
He added that the celebration would also highlight Bintulu’s housing development and industrial zone construction, including the Samalaju Industrial Zone and new planned residential areas such as Jepak Jaya, to help ease urban traffic and housing congestion.
Dr. Rundi confirmed that the celebration’s program schedule has already been approved by the Sarawak Premier and revealed that Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi would join the Premier and several state leaders as guests of honor.
"We are finalizing all the program details, and have prepared a video to showcase Sarawak’s development achievements, especially the progress in Bintulu and other towns across Sarawak. This presentation aligns perfectly with this year’s theme — ‘Sarawak Towards a Prosperous and Progressive Malaysia’, showcasing the benefits Sarawak has gained since joining Malaysia."
Other attendees at the press conference included Bintulu Resident Datuk Nyurak Keti, and Datuk Hadan Sa’bini, Director of Sarawak Protocol, Ceremony, and Event Management Department.
