SEMATAN: “Kamek Nengar, Kamek Nulong,” the official tagline of the Local Social Support Centre (PSSS), reflects a service approach centred on listening with empathy and providing genuine care to communities in need, said Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
The Minister of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) said the tagline underscores the commitment of counsellors and support teams to deliver accessible psychosocial services while strengthening mental well-being at the grassroots level.
“Today, we are directly bringing the services of the ministry and its agencies to the community, especially the residents of Kampung Terusan Jaya Sematan and surrounding areas, so that information and assistance can be delivered more effectively,” she said.

Nancy said this when officiating the Mindness Tour Kaunseling Kasih PSSS programme themed “Kamek Nengar, Kamek Nulong” together with Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) community service activities at Surau An-Nur, Kampung Terusan Jaya Sematan here on Saturday.
She explained that the programme aimed to introduce PSSS services to the local community, offering counselling sessions, advisory services and emotional support conducted by registered and experienced counsellors for individuals and families.
“I encourage villagers to take the time to meet with counsellors and assess their levels of pressure or stress, because mental health is just as important as physical health,” she added.
She also expressed appreciation to YKN for its cash contribution and involvement in gotong-royong and repainting works at Surau An-Nur as part of the community service effort.
On development matters, Nancy said infrastructure improvements in Kampung Terusan Jaya Sematan included repair works on the village fishermen’s jetty completed in 2024 to support fishing and tourism activities.
She also announced that upgrading and repair works for Surau An-Nur would be approved under her allocation, with the scope to be determined later.
“Should there be other needs or future projects, the surau committee or the village JKKK may submit written applications to me for consideration according to current priorities,” she said.
During the event, Nancy announced an allocation of RM10,000 for Surau An-Nur to support its planned programmes and activities, and also handed over five Funeral Management Kit Boxes to assist the surau in carrying out fardu kifayah responsibilities in a more organised manner.
