The Anti-Corruption Commission will summon 5 to 10 more witnesses to record statements in order to complete the "Operation Sky" investigation.
The Commission's Chairman, Tan Sri Azam Baki, pointed out that the investigation is expected to be completed within a month and will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.
He revealed that this new batch of witnesses includes bank staff, financial consultancy firm employees, new borrowers, and individuals from a certain organization, who will be called to give statements this week and next.
"The statements from these witnesses are crucial. Firstly, the bank staff will explain some procedures that we need to sort out and understand."
"There are also some new borrowers whose loan applications need to be verified by the bank staff, and organization individuals need to confirm several transactions."
He said this when interviewed by the media after recording the "Narrative Interview" program at Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).
To date, the Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested 27 people in Operation Sky, including 18 bank staff, 8 financial consultancy firm staff, and 1 member of the public, all of whom have currently been released on bail by the Commission.
On another note, Azam Baki noted that in the Sabah state assemblyman bribery case, the Commission has just recorded statements from 5 witnesses, including a Sabah political figure.
He said these 5 individuals were summoned after a news website raised new issues regarding the case investigation, and the Sabah Anti-Corruption Commission recorded and reviewed their statements.
He stated that the complainant of the case has not provided any evidence to the Commission so far.
"We have handed the relevant videos over to the SPRM Forensics Department for analysis, and the latest report indicates that all 8 videos published by the website have been cut and edited, making them unsuitable as investigation or court evidence as they are unreliable."
He stressed that the Commission has no intention of summoning the news website to inquire about the video sources in order to respect the site's journalistic freedom.
