National On-Site Calligraphy Competition Sparks Calligraphy Fever

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 9 Jan) The third National On-Site Calligraphy Competition has ignited a fervor for calligraphy nationwide. With enthusiastic participation from various schools, both ethnic Chinese and other local students are actively engaging in this cultural event.

As of now, over 4,000 students have registered to participate, exceeding previous years' records and sowing the seeds of culture. This widespread dissemination of cultural seedlings is anticipated to one day blossom everywhere.

The Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Culture Association, as the main organizer, and the Brunei Calligraphy Association, as the co-organizer, have been preparing for this event since last year. In addition to initially registering participants, they have further procured various calligraphy materials such as paper, ink, brushes, and water-writing books. These efforts are aimed at promoting calligraphy art culture, especially for units where such resources are relatively scarce.

Currently, the organizers are gradually distributing these writing materials to participating units, so that schools can promptly initiate their calligraphy activities and enrich traditional festive occasions with a rich cultural atmosphere.
