The Civil Aviation Authority of South Sudan confirmed on the 27th that a small passenger plane crashed near the capital Juba that day, resulting in the deaths of all 14 people on board.
According to a statement from the Civil Aviation Authority, the aircraft took off from the southern South Sudanese city of Yei for Juba International Airport at 9:15 a.m. local time, and lost contact at 9:43 a.m. There were 13 passengers and 1 pilot on board, including 2 Kenyan citizens and 12 South Sudanese citizens.
The statement said that investigators and rescue teams have rushed to the crash site to search for the remains and collect flight technical data as evidence. The cause of the accident is still under further investigation.
Preliminary investigations show that the accident may be related to adverse weather conditions, especially low visibility during the flight.
