White House Blames White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting on Left-Wing Hatred

Published at Apr 28, 2026 03:10 pm
On the 27th, White House Press Secretary Leavitt attributed the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner shooting to left-wing hatred and the systematic demonization and vilification of President Trump over a prolonged period.

At a press conference, she stated that this incident is the third assassination attempt on President Trump in the past two years.

She said: “Left-wing hatred directed at the President, his supporters, and his staff has already resulted in multiple casualties. This weekend, they nearly caused another tragedy.”

She stated that for the past 11 years, hate-filled and violent rhetoric against President Trump has continued day after day, fueling and legitimizing such violent acts, ultimately bringing everyone to this dark moment.

She said: “In recent years, no one has faced more bullets or more violence than the President… Those who constantly make false accusations, smear and vilify the President as a fascist, a threat to democracy, and compare him to Hitler for political gain are precisely the culprits fueling this kind of violence.”

The White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner was held on the night of the 25th at the Washington Hilton Hotel, attended by President Trump and several senior government officials. After the shooting incident occurred, Trump and others were urgently evacuated under Secret Service protection, and a Secret Service member was injured.
