(Kuching, 17th) The Sarawak government is currently exploring new cooperation opportunities with Japan's leading aviation company, Boeing, in the field of aviation and the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari stated that this move aligns with the Sarawak government's efforts to have its own airline.
He mentioned that besides collaborating with ENEOS on hydrogen production, Sarawak is also actively involved in the development of sustainable aviation fuel production as an alternative fuel for the aviation industry through joint research with Chitose Group.
“Earlier, we had discussions with Japan's Boeing company, and they proposed some suggestions because they are a major center for the aviation development of Boeing aircraft. They have collaborations with Boeing in Singapore and the Boeing network in Southeast Asia, so today we are just looking at what cooperation opportunities exist between Boeing and Sarawak as we aim to have our own airline.”
The Premier Abang Johari mentioned this to the media after discussions with Japan Boeing Company's President Eric John at the company's headquarters in Japan today.
However, Abang Johari added that the new cooperation in development and research remains at a preliminary stage.
“We will jointly explore what we (Sarawak and Boeing) can do, particularly in the areas of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable energy.”
