On the 19th, China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand launched the 156th Mekong River joint patrol and law enforcement operation as the main event in a series of enforcement activities. The four countries dispatched a total of 7 law enforcement boats and more than 100 law enforcement personnel. That morning, China sent out law enforcement boat No. 53101, No. 53108, and No. 53109, with No. 53109 participating in joint patrol law enforcement for the first time.
Relevant law enforcement departments from the four countries previously held a joint commanders' meeting at the China-Laos-Myanmar-Thailand Mekong River Joint Patrol and Law Enforcement Command Center to discuss issues related to full-line joint patrol law enforcement, segmented patrols, joint stationing and training, and other enforcement actions, reaching a consensus. During the meeting, all parties unanimously stated that they would actively carry out a series of joint law enforcement actions in accordance with the meeting's consensus to ensure all objectives and tasks are satisfactorily completed.
During the operation, the four countries' law enforcement departments will hold an information exchange meeting in Wanpong, Myanmar, to share updates on recent security situations in the Mekong River Basin, jointly discuss governance measures, and plan the next key tasks for law enforcement cooperation. China, Laos, and Myanmar will carry out joint patrol and station-training tasks in key sensitive areas of the Mekong River, and China will also conduct rotation work for its law enforcement teams stationed at the China-Laos-Myanmar-Thailand Mekong River Joint Patrol Contact Points in Muang Mo and Ban Xangkok, Laos.
