On the 19th, the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement pointing out that Thailand's domestic legal actions against Cambodian leaders have seriously undermined efforts for a lasting ceasefire.
The statement said that Thailand's legal actions against Cambodian leaders undermine all efforts made to achieve a lasting ceasefire and to restore peace and normal relations between the two countries.
The statement reiterated that the Cambodian government remains firmly committed to cooperating with the Thai government to achieve peace and restore normal relations in the near future.
Earlier, Thailand’s acting Prime Minister Puttan stated that Thailand had filed civil and criminal lawsuits against Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet in its domestic courts. If Hun Sen and Hun Manet are found in Thailand, they will be immediately arrested.
Puttan said that scholars may also submit proposals to the government to prosecute Hun Sen and Hun Manet for war crimes at the International Criminal Court (ICC), and the government will study this.
