(Bandar Seri Begawan, 31st) A six-member delegation from Princess Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Secondary School in Brunei departed on Monday for Songkhla, Thailand, to participate in the “SEP4School” and “SEP Student Camp” programs organized by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy (SEPS). The event will take place from March 31st to April 4th.
The five-day program for the Brunei delegation was coordinated by the Ministry of Education of Brunei.
This initiative brings together students, teachers, and principals from SEAMEO member countries as well as China, Japan, and South Korea.
Delegation member and education official Suraya stated: “The activities we will participate in include an ice-breaking session on the first day, visits to relevant sites on the second and third days around the theme, and debates and discussions on the final day. We hope that the participating students can gain valuable experience and knowledge, making contributions to Brunei’s tourism industry.”
She further revealed: “The Brunei delegation also brought along some cultural items representative of Brunei. Some brought the traditional bamboo chopsticks called candas, specially used to eat Ambuyat, while others brought other items such as gayung.”
Acting Director of the Department of Schools at the Ministry of Education, Edy Fazlin, saw the delegation off at Brunei International Airport.
With the theme of “Cultural Heritage and the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy (SEP): Inclusive Growth, Resilience, and Community Well-being,” the SEP4School and SEP Student Camp provides a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, leadership development, and the meaningful participation of youth in issues of cultural heritage and sustainable development.
