Will Iran Return to the Negotiation Table? Trump: I Don't Care

Published at Apr 13, 2026 11:35 am
After failed negotiations between the US and Iran, US President Trump stated on the 12th that he does not care whether Iran returns to the negotiating table, and announced that the US will impose a blockade on Iran at 10 a.m. Eastern Time on the 13th. He also expressed disappointment that NATO did not support the US in the conflict with Iran.

Trump told the media that day: "I don't care whether they (Iran) come back. If they don't return, it doesn't matter to me."

Trump said that the US and Iran negotiated for 21 hours in Pakistan, "We understand the situation more deeply than anyone," and said "Iran's situation is very bad," affirming that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons.

Trump reiterated that the US will impose a blockade on Iran at 10 a.m. Eastern Time on the 13th (10 p.m. Malaysia Time on the 13th), and claimed that other countries would also assist: "Iran will not be able to sell oil, and this will be very effective."

Seriously Reviewing US-NATO Relations

In addition, Trump once again criticized NATO: "I am very disappointed with NATO. They did not support us. We have paid trillions of dollars for NATO, yet they didn't support us... I think this (the US-NATO relationship) will be seriously reviewed."
