(Kuching, 8th) The Sarawak General Operations Force (PGA), during the 'Op Taring Awas/Op Batas' operation, conducted raids at multiple locations in southern Sarawak, seizing various unapproved smuggled goods with a total value of approximately RM1.16 million.
Sarawak PGA Brigade Commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang stated in a press release today that on July 2, the force carried out an operation in Bau, arresting a 25-year-old man and seizing 9,000 kilograms of frozen food and a lorry, with an estimated value of RM522,000.
“On the same day, PGA also arrested another 52-year-old local man in the Bau area and seized 6,500 kilograms of frozen food along with a lorry, with an estimated value of RM367,000.”
He added that in another operation on June 30 in Serian, the force arrested a 35-year-old local man and seized 600 liters of diesel and three oil barrels, all without legal permits.
“In addition, a Toyota Hilux four-wheel-drive vehicle was also confiscated, with a total seized value estimated at RM136,728 (according to market price).”
Che Ghazali pointed out that during an operation in Tebedu on Saturday, the PGA discovered a pile of boxes wrapped in black plastic bags containing suspected untaxed cigarettes.
“Upon further inspection, 145 cartons of white cigarettes were found at the site, with a total market value of around RM78,300.”
He added that on the same day, the PGA also arrested a 39-year-old local man in the Tebedu area and seized 576 kilograms of sugar and a van, with an estimated value of RM62,141.60.
