(Beijing, 25th) Malaysia's Ambassador to China Datuk Noman Mohamad pointed out that the good relationship between Malaysia and China is not only beneficial for both countries but also important for regional security and stability.

In a recent interview with China Central Radio and Television Station, he said that during his year as the ambassador to China, he witnessed numerous shared visions between the leaders of the two countries, laying the foundation for bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and China.

He stated that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar, as the guest of honor, participated in the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the China International Import Expo (CIIE), demonstrating Malaysia's commitment to bilateral relations with China.

“China's commitment to ensuring openness and high-quality development aligns with the concept of the ‘community with a shared future for mankind’ proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.”

Since 2009, China has been Malaysia's largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years and is also a major source of foreign direct investment for Malaysia.

Norman mentioned that Chinese investment plays an important role in driving Malaysia's economic growth and creating job opportunities, including in the manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.

“Initiatives such as zero tariffs provided to developing countries demonstrate China's commitment to promoting mutual benefit, win-win, and shared development.”

Speaking on regional development and stability, Norman said that Malaysia has taken over as the ASEAN-China relations coordinator and will assume the ASEAN chairmanship in 2025. Malaysia is expected to seize this opportunity to further strengthen regional cooperation, especially in the fields of digital economy trade and technological innovation.

Norman also wished the people of Malaysia and China a happy New Year and hoped that the relationship between the two countries would continue to grow and become closer in the Year of the Snake.
