Thailand Launches Data Sharing Platform to Help Globally Combat Human Trafficking and Fraud

(Bangkok, 5th) – The Thai police have launched an international information sharing platform to assist in combating cross-border online scams and human trafficking.

The International Action Dialogue on Combating Online Fraud and Forced Crime concluded in Bangkok on Friday (July 3). At the event, Thailand unveiled this groundbreaking information sharing platform aimed at dismantling transnational networks of online fraud and human trafficking.

According to the Bangkok Post, the platform is called the “Scam and Human Trafficking Information Exchange and Linked Database” (SHIELD), and is designed to help participating countries securely share intelligence related to scam syndicates, victims, financial transactions, and cross-border movements.

According to Xinhua News Agency, Tatchai, Deputy Commissioner of the Thai Police and Director of the Center for Human Trafficking Issues, said that delays in information sharing among government agencies often slow down the process of investigations, arrests, and the rescue of victims.

"To address these challenges, the Thai government has developed a centralized online application that allows participating countries to exchange data securely and efficiently."
