(Kuching, 6th) Early this morning, a car on Jalan Merbau was involved in a single-vehicle accident, crashing into a roadside signpost and resulting in one man dying at the scene and three others being injured.
This accident occurred at about 3:30am, when a Perodua Myvi sedan carrying four people reportedly lost control, veered onto the road shoulder, and collided with a road signpost.
A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) stated that upon receiving the emergency call at 3:27am, personnel from the BBP Tabuan Jaya station were immediately dispatched to the scene, along with emergency medical response services (EMRS) support from the Padungan station.
"When rescue personnel arrived at the scene, they found all four victims still trapped inside the vehicle. The three injured included two men (aged 23 and 25) and one woman (32 years old)."
The spokesperson noted that rescuers used special tools to help free the trapped victims. All the injured received preliminary treatment from EMRS and Ministry of Health (KKM) personnel and were then sent to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.
"As for the male victim who had lost consciousness, he was confirmed dead at the scene by Ministry of Health personnel, and the case was handed over to the police for further action."
The entire rescue operation ended at 5am, with all the trapped individuals successfully rescued and the scene declared safe.
Also assisting at the scene were two police officers, two Health Ministry staff members, and four Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel.
