Trump: If Allies Want Oil, Let Them Come and Take It Themselves

Published at Apr 01, 2026 03:31 pm
On March 31, U.S. President Trump stated that American allies must get involved and deal with the issue in the Strait of Hormuz, “If they (the allies) want oil, let them come and transport the oil themselves.”

In a telephone interview with CBS, he again expressed his dissatisfaction with allies such as the UK not participating in U.S. military actions against Iran.

He said that the U.S. has not yet withdrawn its troops from military actions against Iran, “At some point, I will withdraw the troops, but now is not the time. Other countries must get involved and handle this matter. Iran has suffered heavy blows, but they (the allies) must step in and do their own job.”

He said: “They (the allies) were previously reluctant to lend a hand to anyone, and NATO has performed terribly. So if they (the allies) want oil, let them come and take it themselves… It’s time for them to do something for themselves.”

Remember France’s ‘Extremely Uncooperative’ Attitude Toward Military Action Against Iran

On the same day, Trump also posted on social media, pointing out that all countries unable to obtain aviation fuel due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, such as the UK, which refused to participate in strikes against Iran, “my advice for you is: first, buy from the United States, we’ve got plenty; second, pluck up the courage and go get it from the strait yourself.”

He said that France did not permit flights loaded with military supplies and bound for Israel to fly over its territory, “France has been extremely uncooperative in military actions against Iran, and the United States will remember this!”

However, according to Le Parisien, the Élysée Palace was surprised by Trump’s remarks.

The French presidential office emphasized to media that France has never changed its position from the start.
