US and Iranian Representatives to Visit Pakistan Again; Iran Says No Direct Talks Scheduled

Published at Apr 25, 2026 11:11 am
Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchi arrived in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on the 24th, beginning a visit to Pakistan, Oman, and Russia.

The White House confirmed on the same day that President Trump's envoy Whitcoff and son-in-law Kushner would depart for Pakistan on the 25th.

White House Press Secretary Levitt confirmed in a media interview that Whitcoff and Kushner would leave for Pakistan on the morning of the 25th to discuss negotiations with Iran. At the same time, all members of the US negotiating team, including Vice President Vance, are standing by and will fly to Pakistan if necessary.

She said that in the past two days, the US had seen some progress from the Iranian side and hoped that the talks this weekend would yield more progress.

In any case, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghai stated earlier that during Aragchi's visit to Pakistan, he would discuss with senior Pakistani officials about Pakistan's mediation efforts to end the war imposed on Iran by the US and Israel and to achieve regional peace. He said there were no plans for meetings with the US side, and that Iran's views and considerations would be conveyed to the US via Pakistan.

In addition, a Pakistani source earlier told an Xinhua reporter that Aragchi would discuss with the Pakistani side the preconditions for US-Iran negotiations; if there is progress, it is expected that Iran will further hold direct talks with US representatives.
