(Bandar Seri Begawan, 13th) The 11th World Liu Clan Reunion Conference grandly commenced at the Siam Paragon in Bangkok, Thailand. More than 700 Liu clan members from over 30 countries and regions arrived to take part in this long-awaited family gathering.
The Brunei Liu Clan Association delegation, led by Dr. Liu Shiquan, attended the event. The group included Liu Zaisheng, Liu Kunzhang, and Huang Zhiping, participating in the four-day, three-night celebration.
On the morning of May 3, a solemn ancestral worship ceremony officially took place. All clan members dressed formally and stood in solemn silence. Under the guidance of Dr. Liu Jiwei, incense and candles were lit, offerings were presented, and with the utmost sincerity, respects were paid to the Liu ancestors.
In remembrance of Liu Lei Gong, the founding ancestor who began the Liu surname, established the origins of the clan, and laid the foundation for the Liu family’s thousand-year lineage, blessing countless descendants with a shared bloodline.
In memory of Emperor Gaozu of Han, Liu Bang Gong, who rose in rebellion, unified the land, established the Han Dynasty, forged the spiritual foundation of the Han people, and ushered in a glorious era for the Liu clan.
Recalling Emperor Guangwu of Han, Liu Xiu Gong, who restored the Han Dynasty, rejuvenated the nation, strove diligently for the prosperity and stability of the realm, and wrote new glorious chapters for the Liu dynasty.
Remembering Emperor Zhaolie of Shu Han, Liu Bei Gong, who was known for benevolence and virtue, respected the wise and able, established the Shu Han regime, upheld the principles of loyalty, righteousness, and kindness, passing down the Liu clan’s excellent family traditions.
The curling incense smoke embodies reverence for our ancestors, pursuit of our roots, and most importantly, the inheritance of family spirit. This ancestral worship is never just a mere formality, but a continual reminder: the millennia-long legacy of the Liu clan is built on family values of loyalty, filial piety, and self-improvement. As members of the Liu family, wherever we are in the world, we must never forget our ancestors or lose our family traditions, and we should be proud to be descendants of the Liu clan.
On May 4th, the conference arranged a day trip from Bangkok to Ayutthaya, enjoying the beautiful early summer Southeast Asian scenery and visiting three temples along the way. In the evening, a farewell banquet was held outdoors, with a grand temple as the stage’s backdrop surrounded by lush trees. The evening featured music, dance, drama, martial arts, and other brilliant performances. The highlight was a light show by 700 drones, sequentially forming symbols such as the Chinese dragon, Ayutthaya in Thailand, and various auspicious mascots in the sky. Finally, the logo of the 11th Liu Clan Reunion was showcased across the vast night sky, bringing the event to a successful conclusion.
This grand event in Bangkok was a bloodline reunion for Liu clan people globally, as well as a vivid practice in cross-regional dissemination of Han culture. Clan leaders from various regions remain true to their original aspiration and fulfill their mission, injecting tremendous momentum into the inheritance of Han culture and kinship traditions. It is believed that with concerted effort, Liu clan members worldwide will continue the legacy of Han roots and spirit, letting the outstanding traditional Chinese culture shine brilliantly in the new era.
