63-year-old Taiwanese singer Zheng Zhihua, who suffers from polio and has difficulty walking, previously accused Shenzhen Airport of having inhumane barrier-free facilities, which caused him to “crawl and roll” onto the plane. On the 14th, he attended a public event, saying that the incident is now in the past and he doesn’t want to talk about it further. However, he shared four Chinese characters—“Wu Zhu Sheng Xin” (not dwelling on things)—meaning that since it’s in the past, there’s no need to get entangled.
At that time, Zheng Zhihua, who was using a wheelchair, could not board the plane. He posted an accusation that airport staff just coldly watched on, which sparked heated discussion. But later, surveillance footage was released showing staff assisting him, which contradicted his account. He then clarified that “crawling and rolling” was just an emotional expression. In an interview on the 14th, he said he does not want to talk more about the past: “About this matter, I’ll share with you four words: ‘Wu Zhu Sheng Xin’—don’t obsess over the surroundings at that moment. And I want to add: Barbarians and civilization can never communicate.”
He stated that after this incident, Chinese airports have also improved facilities and services for disabled people, which he also considers a good deed. “Let’s leave it at that; if we keep talking about it, it will just stir up unnecessary hatred.” As for why he used the phrase “crawling and rolling”? He laughed and answered, “It’s just because I really wanted to sing.”
