Ice carvings and snow sculptures become paintings, the silver-clad spectacle fills the ice city. On January 5th, the 41st China Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival opened at the Harbin Ice and Snow World. Guests from home and abroad gathered in the ice city to enjoy the charm of ice and snow, embark on a snowy rendezvous, and share the Asian winter passion.

“Since entering the ice and snow season, Harbin’s popularity and heat have continued to rise. Online platform big data shows that Harbin ranks as the top popular travel destination in China for the 2025 New Year holiday. Since the opening of the Ice and Snow World, the city has received tourists with a year-on-year increase of 21.3%, of which tourists from outside the province increased by 56.3%,” said Liang Huiling, Deputy Secretary of the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee and Governor, emphasizing that Heilongjiang is vigorously promoting the development of the entire ice and snow industry chain — including ice sports, ice culture, ice equipment, and ice tourism — using “cold resources” to kick-start the “hot economy” and build a world-class ice and snow brand, a tourist destination, and an ice and snow economy highland.
 
“The annual Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival is renowned at home and abroad. The fairy-tale world of ice and snow sculptures, the spectacular ice and snow feast, and the colorful ice and snow activities are not only hotspots for domestic and foreign tourists but also serve as a bridge and link for business cooperation and friendly exchanges between domestic and foreign merchants,” said Zhang Xu, chairman of the World Tourism Alliance. The World Tourism Alliance will fully leverage the platform to actively facilitate exchanges and cooperation between Heilongjiang, Harbin, and the international tourism community, constantly endowing ice and snow tourism with new connotations and opening up new developments in the ice and snow industry.

It is reported that this year’s Ice and Snow Festival, themed “Ice Snow Dream, Asian Heart,” is structured into six major event chapters, launched ten boutique themed tourism routes under “Travel with the Games,” created six new ice and snow tourism scenes, conducted over a hundred municipal mass ice and snow activities, promoted the development of the full industrial chain of ice and snow sports, culture, equipment, and tourism, polished the urban profiles of “City of Ice and Snow Culture,” “Twin Asian Winter Cities,” “City of Olympic Champions,” sounded the call for Harbin’s “Ice World, Snow World” city IP, and constructed a world-class ice and snow tourism resort and economic highland.
