(Bandar Seri Begawan, 16th) Geng Yingying, head of the Henan Overseas Friendship Association Distinguished Teachers Tour, expressed that she is extremely honored to cross mountains and seas to meet everyone in the beautiful “Land of Peace”—Brunei, and to gather at the vibrant century-old Brunei Chung Hwa Middle School. On behalf of the Henan Overseas Friendship Association and the entire delegation, I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to all the leaders, board guests, and teachers! Thank you for your valuable help and strong support in making this training course possible!
She said, Chinese culture has a long and profound history, and Chinese language education is an important bridge for promoting exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations and for strengthening friendly ties between peoples. The foundation of Chinese language education in Brunei is deep and fruitful thanks to the long-term dedication and hard work of colleagues here, making outstanding contributions in nurturing excellent talents who understand Chinese culture and integrate both Chinese and Western knowledge, thus promoting the harmonious development of Brunei’s pluralistic society. We deeply admire this!
She stated that for this training, the Henan Overseas Friendship Association has invited three professors from Henan Normal University to undertake teaching tasks. They will jointly explore with teachers the path of high-quality Chinese language education development in the new era in three aspects: teaching methods, technology application, and cultural inheritance. In the upcoming ice-breaking session, everyone will get to meet them one by one!
We sincerely hope that this is not only a training session but also an occasion for genuine sharing and two-way exchange. We look forward to drawing wisdom and experience from your hands-on practice in Chinese education in Brunei, mutually inspiring and progressing with each other.
“We truly hope this training course can bring new ideas and inspiration to everyone’s teaching work, and make a modest contribution to the vigorous development of Chinese language education in Brunei.”
This visit to Brunei is a rare opportunity, and here I would like to be a “promoter” for Henan: Henan is located in central-eastern China, and is an important birthplace of the Chinese nation and Chinese civilization. In the 5,000-year history of Chinese civilization, Henan was the political, economic, and cultural center for 3,000 years. Four of China's eight ancient capitals—Luoyang, Kaifeng, Anyang, and Zhengzhou—are all in Henan. Everyone might be familiar with the Oracle Bone Inscriptions at Yinxu in Anyang, Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Shaolin Kungfu, Chen-style Tai Chi, and even Pop Mart, which is popular among young people and originated in Henan before going global. I look forward to welcoming all of you to visit Henan soon and experience its rich and profound culture firsthand!
She concluded by once again expressing her thanks to Ambassador Xiao for taking time out of his busy schedule to attend the opening ceremony, to the school board for their thoughtful arrangements, and wished all the teachers fruitful learning and successful teaching! Wishing all attendees good health and smooth work! May the cause of Chinese language education in Brunei prosper and reach new heights!
