Chinese actress Ju Jingyi stars alongside Chen Duling, Zeng Shunxi, and Tian Jiarui in the new fantasy drama Yue Lin Qi Ji, which is currently airing. The drama initially received good word of mouth and strong viewership, reaching over 200 million views just five days after its premiere. However, as the plot progressed, some fans began to complain that the storyline was becoming overly complicated, with some even saying they are considering dropping the show!
Recently, the main cast's salaries were revealed, with Ju Jingyi receiving the highest pay at 16 million RMB (approximately MYR 9.34 million).
Since Ju Jingyi and Chen Duling are co-starring as dual female leads, many assumed their pay would be similar. However, it was revealed that Chen Duling received only 8 million RMB (about MYR 4.67 million), the same as Tian Jiarui, which many netizens deemed unfair. It is speculated that this is due to Chen Duling's lower commercial value compared to Ju Jingyi, which led her to accept the investors' arrangement. As for Zeng Shunxi, he earned 12 million RMB (about MYR 7.01 million), second only to Ju Jingyi.
It is also worth noting that, despite a surge of buzz-worthy kiss scenes between Ju Jingyi and Tian Jiarui, the number of advertising slots for Yue Lin Qi Ji has sharply declined for unknown reasons. The ads dropped from four per episode to just one, with episode nine shockingly having no commercial sponsors at all. With a total production cost of 300 million RMB (about MYR 175 million), there are fears the show may end up incurring huge losses.
