(Kuching, 26th) The 2025 Thanksgiving Banquet jointly organized by the Board of Directors of Kuching Juvenile Reform School and the Kuching Boys' Reform School marked a perfect conclusion to all the board's activities for this year. The banquet was held lively at a renowned hotel and was officiated by Sarawak Social Welfare Department Director Haji Ismawi.
This event was held mainly to bid farewell to certain department and school staff who will be transferred from January 2026; at the same time, it was also to commend the progress and outstanding performance of the youths in the school, affirm the consistent efforts and contributions of all staff of Kuching Juvenile Reform School, and to thank the board members for their long-term, continuous support and commitment.
In his speech, Haji Ismawi emphasized that this Thanksgiving event should be seen as a concrete manifestation of the unity and cooperation among the staff of Kuching Juvenile Reform School, board members, and the youths in the institution.
He pointed out that such close cooperation is crucial in ensuring the reform school always maintains a positive environment, assisting the youths in readjusting themselves, and helping them build a brighter, hopeful future after leaving the institution.
He also highly praised the unyielding spirit of all staff, as well as the proactive engagement and sense of responsibility of the Board of Directors, who strive to assist youths in learning practical skills and proper life values, bringing a far-reaching impact for their future.
He said these ongoing efforts have created a good space and opportunities for growth for the youths, allowing them, under strict yet loving, caring, and attentive guidance, to receive meaningful character development and grow to become better individuals.
Earlier on, in his welcoming speech, board chairman Zaslan Abdullah expressed his sincerest and highest gratitude to the Sarawak Social Welfare Department Director, thanking him for his continuous concern and strong support. He affirmed that despite the board members being busy with their own duties, they have persisted in assisting the Kuching Juvenile Reform School in various ways to the best of their abilities.
He said one of the encouraging achievements this year was gaining the care and support of Saradagang Group, which generously donated RM50,000 to the Board of the Kuching Juvenile Reform School.
The donation cheque was handed over by Saradagang Group’s CSR Manager Yusof Aziz to board chairman Zaslan Abdullah.
Speaking of this donation, Zaslan Abdullah expressed his sincerest thanks to Saradagang Group, and hopes that such acts of caring for society can serve as an example and encourage more enterprises to join in.
He believes this donation will be deeply remembered by its beneficiaries, especially the youths currently undergoing guidance and rehabilitation at the reform school. When they use the facilities improved through this donation, they will surely remember the warmth and care they received.
