Brunei National Team Performs Outstandingly at Asian Wushu Taolu Cup and Sanda Asian Cup

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) The Brunei national team recently set out to compete in the "1st Asian Wushu Taolu Cup and 2nd Wushu Sanda Asian Cup" which officially began in Songyuan City, Jilin Province, China, as part of the 2025 events.
In this edition of the Wushu Taolu competition, a total of over 170 athletes from 16 countries participated. The requirement for entry was having placed in the top eight at the 2024 Asian Wushu Championships.
The Brunei national team was led by national head coach Li Hui, who served as a judge for the event, with Zhao Chunjie as coach and Hong Ruyuan as assistant coach. Together, they led four qualified athletes to participate in this competition. The athletes were: Adi Saryin (competing in Men's Nanquan & Men's Nangun), Basma (competing in Women's Taijiquan & Taiji Sword), Wang Guojing (competing in Men's Taijiquan & Taiji Sword), and Lin Weiyuan (competing in Nanquan).
On the first day of competition, Basma took part in the Women's Taijiquan event and delivered an outstanding performance. Her entire routine was executed smoothly and seamlessly, fully expressing the characteristics of Taijiquan, and she completed the set with perfection, unanimously earning praise from the judges. As a result, she won a silver medal with an excellent score of 9.670!
Basma had qualified for this event by placing seventh in last year’s Asian Championships. After returning home, under the meticulous guidance of Coach Zhao Chunjie, she honed her skills, ultimately making significant progress at the Asian Cup. Singapore won the gold medal with a score of 9.693, while the Japanese team took the bronze with 9.666. Adi Saryin competed in the Men's Nanquan event. He successfully executed all of the difficult aerial techniques in his set, displaying powerful strength in his Nanquan movements, and performed excellently overall. With his superb technical level, he secured a bronze medal with a score of 9.653!
Lin Weiyuan also competed in the Men's Nanquan event. Although he has not yet turned 18, he showed abundant strength and stamina, achieving an impressive fifth place in his group with a score of 9.616! Our coaching team believes that all four athletes performed very well in today’s matches! Each athlete fought hard and displayed their best form! We hope they continue their efforts and strive for even better results in tomorrow’s competition!
