KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was among Members of Parliament from Perikatan Nasional (PN) who walked out of the Dewan Rakyat today and will not take part in the debate on the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) Report concerning Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).
Also leaving the chamber were PN Chief Whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and PN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Samsuri Mokhtar.
Among the PN MPs who took similar action were PAS lawmakers Datuk Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu), Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman (Bachok), Dr Halimah Ali (Kapar) and Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (Rantau Panjang).
In addition, Datuk Wan Saifulruddin Wan Jan (Tasek Gelugor), Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang) and Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (Beluran) also walked out of the chamber.
However, some Opposition MPs remained in the Dewan Rakyat to follow the special sitting, including Putrajaya MP Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin (Bersatu) and Langkawi MP Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (Bersatu).
Earlier, Takiyuddin proposed that the special sitting be adjourned following the absence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who are both undergoing treatment for health issues.
The Special Dewan Rakyat Sitting provides MPs with an opportunity to examine the TH RCI report, which was made public on July 29 after the government decided that its findings should be made known to the people.
The report contains various findings concerning weaknesses in TH’s management and operations between 2014 and 2020, as well as 25 recommendations for improvement, of which 75 per cent had been implemented by TH as of July 30.
