(Kuching, Dec 31) DBKU mayor Datuk Hilmy Othman stated that efforts will be made to transform Kuching North City into a competitive city with sustainable development, improving the quality of life for its residents.
He stated that Kuching North City will firmly adhere to the post-2030 COVID-19 pandemic development strategy, which is a major framework for the Sarawak government to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth.
In his 2025 New Year's speech today, Datuk Hilmy Othman noted that through the post-2030 COVID-19 pandemic development strategy, Kuching North City will continue to strengthen infrastructure, improve public services, and promote inclusive economic growth.
“We are committed to environmental sustainability, ensuring all developments comply with sustainable principles.”
He praised Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari's leadership, thanking him for supporting the advancement of infrastructure, economy, social welfare, and education in Kuching North City.
He thanked Deputy Minister of Sarawak Utilities and Communication Department in charge of the Kuching North City Hall, Dato Abdul Rahman Junaidi, and the contributions of the Member of Parliament for the area.
“These efforts have not only improved the residents' quality of life but also positioned Kuching North as a progressive, competitive, and humanized city.”
Looking forward to 2025, Datuk Hilmy Othman emphasized the mission of the Kuching North City Hall to ensure balanced development in the social, economic, and environmental sectors.
“In reviewing the past year's achievements, the momentum must be maintained and continue moving forward.”
He called on the residents of North Kuching to support the initiatives of the Kuching North City Hall, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in achieving the city’s goals.
“Through strong collaboration and commitment, we can make Kuching North a city that is not only comfortable to live in but also competitive on a national and global level.”
He stated that as part of the 2025 vision, Kuching North City will prioritize modern infrastructure, inclusivity for children and the elderly, as well as sustainable economic growth. Focus areas include digital development, the green economy, and improving community well-being through high-quality public facilities.
