On the 14th, the Department of Consular Affairs of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a post on its official social media account, advising Chinese citizens to avoid traveling to Japan in the near future.
The Consular Affairs Department stated that, since the beginning of this year, social security in Japan has deteriorated, with a high incidence of illegal acts targeting Chinese citizens and multiple incidents of Chinese nationals being assaulted in Japan. Some of these cases remain unsolved, and the safety environment for Chinese nationals in Japan continues to worsen. Recently, Japanese leaders have openly made blatant and provocative remarks regarding Taiwan, which has severely harmed the atmosphere of China-Japan personnel exchanges and brought significant risks to the personal safety and lives of Chinese citizens in Japan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese embassies and consulates in Japan solemnly remind Chinese citizens to avoid traveling to Japan in the near term, and urge those already in Japan to closely monitor the local security situation, raise their awareness of safety precautions, and strengthen self-protection. In case of emergency, please immediately call the police and contact the Chinese embassy or consulate in Japan for assistance.
