In October, a homicide occurred in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China, triggered by a courier delivering a package to the wrong address. The victim was allegedly stabbed to death by the recipient’s husband after delivering the item several hundred meters away from the intended destination, which led to a heated argument. Viral video footage appears to show the victim, having collapsed and lost consciousness after being stabbed, being repeatedly kicked and stomped on the head, while bystanders failed to intervene or provide assistance.
According to @Hot News Report, Mr. Wang from Suzhou, Jiangsu, stated that his 30-year-old nephew Xiao Li (pseudonym) was killed with a knife on the evening of October 17 after a verbal altercation with the recipient’s husband during a delivery.
Mr. Wang explained that Xiao Li was a delivery worker at a China Post branch in Suzhou. Around 7 p.m. on the day of the incident, due to a positioning error, he delivered Ms. Wu’s (pseudonym) package several hundred meters away from her home, at a location near Weiting Jinling West Road, by Weiting No. 2 Middle School.
After discovering the delivery mistake, Xiao Li tried calling Ms. Wu multiple times, but received no answer.
Eventually, Xiao Li managed to reach someone by phone, but it was Ms. Wu’s husband who answered. As the delivery was delayed, Ms. Wu, agitated, rushed from her home to the scene, where she and Xiao Li had a heated argument. During the dispute, Ms. Wu’s husband suddenly lost control and violently attacked Xiao Li with a knife.
By the time emergency responders arrived, Xiao Li had already succumbed to excessive blood loss and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A video circulating online, purportedly showing the incident, displays a man in a courier uniform lying in the middle of the street with blood staining his chest and abdomen, while another man repeatedly kicks and stomps on the injured man’s head. Throughout the incident, several cars and motorcycles passed by or stopped, but no one stepped in to intervene or help.
On the morning of November 13, @Hot News called the China Post branch where Xiao Li worked for information. Staff members confirmed Xiao Li was their delivery employee but said they were unclear about the specific circumstances because Xiao Li died at the scene. Reporters then contacted the police station that responded to the incident, but the staff there offered no explanation.
Currently, the family is negotiating follow-up matters with the local China Post authorities.
