(China, 1st) On the 1st, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released data showing that in 2025, China's shipbuilding industry's three major indicators will continue to lead globally, maintaining the world’s top spot for 16 consecutive years.
CCTV, citing MIIT data, reported that in 2025, China’s shipbuilding completions will reach 53.69 million deadweight tons, up 11.4% year-on-year, accounting for 56.1% of the global market; new orders will reach 107.82 million deadweight tons, accounting for 69% of the global market; as of the end of December, the order backlog stood at 274.42 million deadweight tons, a year-on-year increase of 31.5%, accounting for 66.8% of the global market—a record high in order backlog.
In addition, in 2025, six major Chinese shipbuilding enterprises ranked among the world’s top 10 in terms of completions, new orders, and order backlog. Of 18 major types of ships, 16 ship types ranked first in the world for new orders.
