Peru's First Female President Keiko Fujimori Sworn In

Peruvian President-elect Keiko Fujimori was sworn in on the 28th in the nation's capital, Lima, for a term lasting until July 2031.

In her inaugural speech, she said that the new government will make responding to the El Niño phenomenon and improving public security the country's two urgent tasks, while also accelerating infrastructure development and promoting reforms in youth employment, education, and social security.

She called on all political forces to unite and cooperate in driving the country's development.

Leaders from other Latin American countries, including Argentine President Milei, Chilean President Kast, Ecuadorian President Noboa, Bolivian President Paz, and Uruguayan President Orsi, attended Keiko Fujimori's inauguration ceremony.

Peru held the second round of its presidential election on June 7. On July 3, Peru's National Jury of Elections announced that Keiko Fujimori and her running mate had won the second round of the presidential election.

Keiko Fujimori, 51, is the daughter of former Peruvian President Fujimori. She advocates for a pro-market and investment-friendly approach, and for taking tougher measures against crime.
