The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) emphasizes that any issues related to rice must be based on the decisions of the relevant authorities to ensure accurate information is obtained.
They issued a statement in response to remarks made by Bukit Gantang MP from the National Alliance and Chairman of the National Cost of Living Action Council (NACCOL) Food Task Force, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution.
Saifuddin Nasution stated on Tuesday (21st) that local rice issues have been longstanding, but the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, has not yet resolved them. He will request the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar, to assign rice-related matters to the task force.
In response, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security stated that they remain committed to seeking the best solutions through a comprehensive reform of the rice industry, thereby enhancing agricultural competitiveness, improving farmers' welfare, and ensuring the supply of local rice.
In view of this, issues concerning local rice supply will be publicly announced once the government approves specific details.
