(Kuching, 9th) Wardina Batrisyia Nasib, 21, a student from Kuching Vocational College, was awarded the Malaysia Director General of Education Special Award at the Ministry of Education Vocational College 10th Graduation Ceremony 2025 held yesterday.
This award was presented by Director General of Education Dato' Mohamad Azam Ahmad at the ceremony, which took place at the Chancellor Hall, Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM), Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.
Pursuing a Diploma in Culinary Arts, she also received a certificate, a commemorative plaque, and a cash prize of RM1,000.
This special award, established by the Vocational Education and Training Unit, aims to recognize outstanding students who meet designated criteria, including a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) above 3.5, being actively and excellently involved in extracurricular activities, and gaining recognition at the national and international level.
This student, from Kampung Haji Baki, previously won a gold medal at the World Youth STEM Invention Innovation Competition held in Bangkok, Thailand from January 29 to February 2, 2026.
Her project "LE SPICES" (in the culinary field), stood out among participants from 10 countries, successfully attracting the attention of the judging panel.
This international competition was organized by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and Malaysian Young Scientists Organization (MYSO).
In addition, as the eldest of three siblings, she also clinched the championship and won a gold medal at the World Sustainable Development Goals Challenge held from September 26 to 27, 2025, which covered 10 Asian countries. She also garnered two additional awards: the "Special Jury Award for Best Innovation" and the "Best Innovation Poster Award".
She also once led the Kuching Vocational College team to win runner-up at the 11th Indonesia Inventors Day competition held in Bali, Indonesia from August 28 to 31, 2024.
