(Kuching, 9th) Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) is expanding its business into new energy, tourism, digital and green economy sectors, gradually transforming from its traditional focus on industry, housing, and property development.
The agency's chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Dato Hussen, stated that this transformation reflects SEDC's repositioning since its establishment in 1972, and the organization now places greater emphasis on the development of high-value and emerging sectors.
Speaking at SEDC’s Hari Raya Open House event in Kuching on Wednesday (April 8), he said: “With new economic opportunities continually emerging at home and abroad, SEDC will continue to commit to supporting Sarawak’s long-term development.”

He added that the institution is currently focusing on human resource development, employment creation, and entrepreneurship promotion, and bringing tangible benefits to communities across Sarawak through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
He said: “Our success is measured not only by financial performance or asset size, but also by the real impact we bring to the people of Sarawak.” He pointed out that these initiatives are also in line with the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), which emphasizes economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
Abdul Aziz also stressed that cooperation with government agencies, strategic partners, and the private sector is a crucial key for SEDC to successfully implement its development plans.
Attendees included Datuk Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, coordinator of regional development agencies, Kuching North City Commission, and Islamic affairs, the Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and other guests.
