(Kuala Lumpur, 13th) Mohamed Yusoff, a former aide to Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar who was acquitted of drug trafficking and firearms charges, has, through a lawyer, requested the National Police Chief Tan Sri and others to respond within 7 days regarding the investigation follow-up of his earlier report claiming he was framed.
According to a letter dated Friday, his representative lawyer, Rafique Rashid, demanded that Razarudin address the progress of the report filed by his client with the police on September 12, 2024.
The letter also requests Razarudin to respond to this matter within 7 days starting Friday, or legal action will be taken.
The letter indicates that copies were sent to Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Dato' Rusdi, Jinjang District Police Chief, and the then National Police Criminal Investigation Department's Legal and Prosecution Head Dato' Zainal.
According to reports, Yusoff (32) was charged on the morning of September 6 last year at 10:15 a.m. for being found in possession of 305 grams of cannabis inside a vehicle parked in front of the prayer room at the Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters. The drugs were allegedly wrapped in a black plastic bag.
He was also charged at 9:25 a.m. on the same day outside the Sinar Duta Condominium on Jalan Gombak for illegally possessing two imitation guns.
He filed a police report on September 12, claiming he was framed and provided a list of those allegedly involved in framing him.
Yusoff was held for 9 months before being acquitted of drug trafficking and firearms charges on Thursday (12th).
In July 2021, Yusoff filed a suit against Anwar in the High Court, alleging that Anwar had sexually assaulted him at the latter's home in Segambut, the capital, on October 2, 2018, and seeking damages from Anwar.
On Tuesday (10th), the Court of Appeal approved Anwar's (78) application to temporarily postpone the civil suit trial where Yusoff alleges he was sexually assaulted by him, meaning the case will not commence as scheduled in the High Court next Monday (16th).
Anwar, now 78, was sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister on November 24, 2022.
