[Southern Thailand Floods] Praising Malaysian Volunteer Groups for Rescuing Fellow Citizens, Anwar Salutes: They Are Heroes!

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar applauded the courageous and fearless spirit of Malaysian volunteer groups who assisted in the rescue efforts for the Thailand floods, describing them as heroes!

In an official Facebook post on Friday (27th) night, he said that since the rescue operation began last Sunday, more than 6,000 Malaysians who were stranded due to the floods in Thailand have safely returned to Malaysia.

He stated that the majority of the rescue operations were supported by nearly 20 Malaysian volunteer groups collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including 13 volunteer fire rescue teams, and that the Thai government also provided assistance during the process.

"Seeing the courageous and resilient spirit of our volunteer teams, who risked venturing into flood zones to rescue fellow citizens, I am truly moved. To our heroes, I extend my highest respect and appreciation."

He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Malaysian Embassy in Thailand, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla, Thai authorities, local rescue teams, and the management of Northern University for rescuing 36 students and 2 lecturers stranded in Hat Yai.

"The dedicated efforts and steadfast commitment from all parties demonstrate the concern and care for Malaysian citizens stranded in Thailand, transcending religion, ethnicity, and background."

He also called on the public to continue praying for the volunteers and the entire rescue team, to help them continue fulfilling the mission of bringing Malaysians home, and stated the government will continue to closely monitor the situation via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and provide assistance as soon as possible.
