Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, on Saturday (March 7) called for strengthening confidence in inevitable victory, shaping the overarching momentum for unification, promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and advancing the great cause of cross-strait unification.
According to state media Xinhua News Agency, Wang Huning attended the deliberation of the Taiwan delegation at the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress on Saturday. Cai Peihui, Chairman of the Board of Fuli (Hong Kong) International Group Investment Company, originally from Tainan; Li Xingkui, Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of Hunan Loudi Technical College, originally from Taichung; and Zeng Liqun, President of the Guizhou Provincial Taiwan Association Council, originally from Kaohsiung, along with other NPC deputies, spoke at the meeting.
After listening to the speeches of deputies such as Cai Peihui, Li Xingkui, and Zeng Liqun, Wang Huning stated that in the past year, under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core, Mainland China has properly responded to the complex and severe situation in the Taiwan Strait, has powerfully guided the development of cross-strait relations, and has further gained strategic initiative in achieving full cross-strait unification.
Wang Huning called for a thorough implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statements on Taiwan work and the overall strategy for solving the Taiwan issue in the new era, to strengthen confidence in inevitable victory, shape the overarching momentum for unification, promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and advance the great cause of unification.
He also called for adherence to the "One China" principle and the "1992 Consensus", resolutely opposing "Taiwan Independence" separatism and external interference, and firmly safeguarding the common homeland of the Chinese nation. The concept of "Both sides of the Strait are one family" should be upheld, cross-strait exchanges, cooperation, and integrated development should be deepened, and the long-term well-being of the Chinese nation should be jointly created.
