(Limbang, 9th) A 58-year-old man is suspected to have been attacked and dragged into the river by a crocodile while fishing at Kampung Banting, Limbang this afternoon, and is still missing.
According to a statement from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the department received a report at 3:13 p.m. on the 8th and immediately dispatched three personnel from the Limbang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Limbang) to the scene to carry out operations.
Limbang Fire and Rescue Station operation commander Mazrom (Mazrom @ Anderson Ampahon) stated that the case was initially reported by the Limbang District Police Headquarters (IPD Limbang), stating that the victim, Karim Osman, was suspected to have been attacked by a crocodile while fishing.
“An eyewitness informed the authorities that when they rushed to the scene, they only found the victim’s personal belongings and fishing equipment, and then went to the police station to file a report,” he said in a statement today.
Limbang Fire and Rescue personnel are currently heading to the scene to carry out a search and rescue (SAR) operation.
