LUNDU,20 May: The General Operations Force (GOF) arrested a local man for allegedly transporting over 1,000 litres of petrol with a lorry on Sunday (May 18).
Sarawak GOF Brigade deputy commander ACP Rosdi Inai said the GOF 11th Battalion stopped a three-tonne lorry for inspection at around 6.20 pm after suspecting it was carrying controlled goods without a valid permit.
“During checks, the team arrested the 57-year-old driver and seized a total of 133 jerrycans containing 1,330 litres of petrol in the vehicle’s cargo.
“The estimated seizure value amounted to RM187,216, according to market prices,” he said.
Both the suspect and the seizures were handed over to the Sarawak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
