(Bandar Seri Begawan, 3rd) The Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department held a tree-planting event yesterday, planting a total of 105 Bucida seedlings, including spherical bougainvillea, large-leaf aster, and Barbados cherry.
This tree-planting event aims to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Brunei’s capital being renamed as Bandar Seri Begawan. The event took place at Sultan’s Silver Jubilee Park.
Brunei’s Minister of Home Affairs, Dato Awang Abdul Mutalib, attended as the guest of honor and personally planted three Bucida seedlings.
The event aimed to transform Bandar Seri Begawan into a garden city and contribute to tackling climate change.
As part of the event, municipal officials also participated in public area maintenance, including painting public facilities, trimming lawns, and cleaning surrounding areas.
The Municipal Department B will continue to carry out these activities in phases to ensure the urban environment remains clean, attractive, and pleasant at all times.
This event was also jointly organized with Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam and is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives under its sustainable environment program.
