(Song Town, 26th) — Minister of Works and Kapit MP Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has suggested that Katibas State Assemblyman Lidam Assan continue as a candidate in the upcoming Sarawak state election (PRN), citing his outstanding performance and dedication to regional development.
He stated that the continuity of regional development requires a leader who is not only diligent but also has tangible achievements in advancing the local community.
“The continuity of regional development largely depends on the diligence of leaders and their good track record in promoting the development of the people. Therefore, I propose keeping Assemblyman Lidam as the candidate for the upcoming state election,” he said in an official Facebook statement on Sunday (January 25), following the officiation of the Kebiau multipurpose hall in Song Town.

This multipurpose hall was built at a cost of RM1.9 million, with funds announced by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari during his 2023 visit.
Nanta said the hall should not be regarded merely as a physical structure but should be fully utilized as a community activity center and a platform for human capital development.
He also reminded the local community to jointly maintain the facility and ensure it is not misused.
Speaking on the development of Song, he noted the area had made significant progress compared to the past.

“The infrastructure development in the Katibas constituency has steadily improved, and future planning should focus on enhancing socio-economic development to improve the standard of living for the people of Song. I also emphasized the importance of communication, that elected representatives should keep engaging with all stakeholders to ensure every development implemented truly benefits the people,” he said.
At the same time, he reminded Lidam, particularly in his role overseeing socio-economic affairs at URDA (Upper Rajang Development Agency), to also pay attention to the development of other areas and not just focus on Song or the Katibas constituency.
During the event, Nanta also provided assistance through URDA to nine riverine fishermen, including outboard boats, engines, and fishing equipment, to help boost their income.
He also congratulated the newly appointed village chiefs and community and village committee (KMKK) leaders, and expressed gratitude to those who had completed their service.
