(Kota Samarahan, 22nd July) In the early hours today (22nd July), an Axia sedan was involved in an accident along Kuching Outer Ring Road, crashing into a garbage lorry parked by the road, resulting in the driver and passenger being seriously injured.
The accident happened at around 1:25am and involved a Perodua Axia and a garbage lorry that was stopped by the roadside.
The impact left two men, aged 18 and 26, trapped in their seats, while the lorry driver escaped unharmed.
The Kota Samarahan Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency distress call and dispatched personnel to the accident site about 11km away at 1:28am.
Firefighters used rescue tools to extricate the two injured victims, who were then handed over to medical personnel for urgent treatment and sent to hospital.
The fire brigade also conducted a safety inspection at the scene to prevent fire hazards, and concluded the entire rescue operation at 2:45am.
