26-year-old Wu Lei, who started out as a child actor playing “Xiao Fei Liu” in Nirvana in Fire, successfully transitioned into a sought-after male lead in Chinese dramas through series like The Long Ballad and Love Like the Galaxy. Though he’s not been involved in much gossip, he was suddenly embroiled in controversy when a netizen named Bai Shanshan claimed to possess bed photos of him, offering to sell them for 10,000 RMB (about 5,822 MYR). She complained that she’s only sold 20,000 RMB worth (about 11,000 MYR) so far, and even publicly called him out: “Wu Lei, how are you going to pay back what you owe me?” sparking discussion among netizens.
Bai Shanshan further demanded that Wu Lei account for his whereabouts on the evening of November 20 last year. However, his fans quickly responded by posting his schedule, showing he was filming that day. Wu Lei’s studio also promptly released a statement refuting the allegations: “The statements made online regarding Mr. Wu Lei are unfounded rumors with no basis in fact.”
Bai Shanshan was compared by netizens to Si Xiaodi, but while Si Xiaodi at least presented screenshots of private messages with male celebrities, Bai Shanshan has yet to provide any material evidence. Fans of Wu Lei mocked, “Is it now possible to defame a celebrity just by talking?” Bai Shanshan retorted that she is more beautiful and younger than Si Xiaodi, and that the male stars she has slept with are even more handsome—but so far, her claims remain empty talk.
