Air "taxis," single-person aerial "motorcycles," unmanned aerial cargo drones, high-precision guided firefighting drones... a series of Chinese low-altitude economy products are showcased at the 9th China-South Asia Expo currently being held in Kunming, Yunnan, with relevant enterprises setting their sights on the South and Southeast Asian markets.

According to a report by China News Service, Ren Wenguang, the founder of Ehang (Nanjing) Aviation Technology Co., Ltd., told the agency on the 20th that the Chinese low-altitude economy is currently experiencing rapid growth, and the domestic industry competition is becoming increasingly fierce, necessitating a proactive layout in overseas markets. "We are participating in the South Asia Expo to connect with foreign clients and expand markets in South and Southeast Asia."

Nowadays, in some parts of China, unmanned drones are delivering coffee to tourists at scenic spots, air "buses" are operating on a regular basis, unmanned drones are transporting medical supplies across islands, and drones equipped with infrared thermal imaging devices are hovering over forests to monitor fire risks...

According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, it is estimated that the market size of China’s low-altitude economy will reach 1.5 trillion RMB (approximately 890 billion MYR) by 2025 and is expected to reach 3.5 trillion RMB (approximately 2.07 trillion MYR) by 2035.

Ren Wenguang’s company specializes in the research and manufacturing of manned electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, and they have reached a partnership with Mile City in Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, to operate the "Mile No." aircraft. This electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft has a maximum takeoff weight of 2.2 tons, can carry five people or 500 kilograms of cargo, has a maximum range of 240 kilometers, and a top speed of 240 kilometers per hour, making it suitable for high-frequency cargo transportation, specialty tourism, and more.

"Yunnan borders Southeast Asia and South Asia, and establishing a regional hub here is a significant layout for developing towards the two Asias," said Ren Wenguang. He noted that China, along with South and Southeast Asian countries, accounts for about half of the global population, presenting immense cooperation potential and vast development space.
