On the 25th, a Chinese netizen posted a video claiming that on a street in Miluo City, Yueyang, Hunan, several men pushed a stainless steel cage down the street, with two masked women and a black dog inside the cage. On top of the cage was a sign with the words "adulterer" written on it, insinuating that the women were involved in improper relationships.

There was also a woman walking alongside, beating a gong, which attracted many onlookers who filmed the scene.

After the video was exposed, many people called it outrageous, likening it to the ancient punishment for adulterers of "drowning in a pig cage". However, many believed the video was staged, commenting, “It looks like they’re filming a skit, the women in the cage don’t look scared or hurt at all," "The women in the cage are even laughing," "It’s obviously fake, probably shooting a short video, do you really think the police wouldn’t intervene?" and "This is performance art, and if it were real, they wouldn't be wearing masks."

On the 26th, the Public Security Bureau of Miluo City, Hunan, issued a public notice:

In response to the recent online video "multiple people parading two women in an iron cage," our bureau promptly launched an investigation.

After investigation, He (male, 38) in order to gain online traffic and improper profit, since June 22, 2026, colluded with Gong and 8 others to repeatedly stage vulgar scenes in public places in Miluo City, creating online hype, undermining public order and good morals, and causing severe social impact. At present, the public security authority has taken criminal detention measures against organizer He according to law, and has imposed administrative detention on Gong and the eight others. The case is under further investigation.
