The American entertainment giant Walt Disney announced on the 7th that it plans to build a new theme park resort by the seaside in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the Middle Eastern country, the United Arab Emirates.
This will be the 7th Disney park in the world. The choice of Abu Dhabi for the new Disney park highlights the UAE's rise as one of the global financial and entertainment centers.
Disney stated that the new park will be built on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the UAE company Miral Group, aiming to attract tourists from the "Middle East, Africa, India, Asia, Europe, and other places."
The world's first Disney park opened in 1955 in Anaheim, California, USA. The other five Disney parks are located in Orlando, Florida, USA; Tokyo, Japan; Paris, the capital of France; Hong Kong, China; and Shanghai, China.
