[Budi95] Domestic Trade Minister: RON95 Subsidy Not for Business Use—Companies Forcing Employees Can Be Penalized

Published at Oct 03, 2025 03:43 pm
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan has warned companies not to force employees to use the RON 95 fuel subsidy under the BUDI95 mechanism for company business purposes, or face consequences, and urged employees facing such situations to report to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.

“They should not do this, because the RM1.99 RON 95 is provided by the government for the people, not for companies. These companies can be dealt with.”

An internet user revealed on social media that a company required employees to use their personal RON 95 subsidy quota for company business and even suggested that after using up their quota, they could try using family members’ identification cards to refuel.

Passenger Boat Companies Must Register to Enjoy RON95 Petrol Subsidies

On another note, Armizan announced that passenger boat companies wishing to enjoy RON95 petrol subsidies must register with the Malaysian Maritime Department, or the Sabah Ports and Harbour Department (JPDS), or the Sarawak Rivers Board (LSS), and must also operate in high population density areas with fixed passenger schedules.

He said, as a temporary measure, public passenger boat operators may currently apply for cash refunds for petrol purchases with official receipts. The rebate period is from September 30, 2025, to October 31, 2025, for RON95 petrol purchases.

He stated that the registration process for the cash rebate can begin from October 9 at https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my/, where companies can upload their registration certificates (or certified copies), bank statements (or certified copies), the number of passenger boats owned by the company, registration numbers for each boat, and the engine capacity of each boat.

He added that to simplify the application process, boat companies may also upload fuel receipts as supporting documents.

Armizan made these remarks at a press conference after presenting fuel cards to transportation company representatives in Cyberjaya on Friday (October 3).

He advised passenger boat operators to check their registration status with the relevant agencies as soon as possible, as this is a necessary requirement for applying for the cash rebate.

“Companies that have not yet registered should do so promptly to enjoy the government’s subsidies.”

He said the cash rebates will be transferred directly into the company's bank account within 15 working days after registration and verification are completed.

In addition, from September 15 until 5 p.m. on October 2, a total of 9,712 companies with 20,713 vehicles have registered with the Subsidized Petrol Control System (SKPS).

He said that on October 2 alone, 786 vehicles from 531 companies were registered in the system.

“Among them, 243 are from land public transport and 288 are transportation companies.”
