(Miri, 6th) In conjunction with the upcoming Mother's Day, the Pujut branch of the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) Youth successfully held a heartwarming “DIY Mother’s Day Bouquet Experience Course” on the 4th of this month (Sunday), attracting many enthusiastic youth members. Through personally making bouquets, the members not only learned practical floral art skills but more importantly, expressed their gratitude and love towards their mothers through this activity.

Special thanks to Bario Flowers & Gifts Miri for sponsoring and supporting this event. The store owner not only provided the necessary materials and tools but also explained the origin and symbolic meaning of carnations as the representative flower for Mother’s Day.

Carnations symbolize maternal love, gentleness, and selflessness, and are globally recognized as the flower that best expresses gratitude towards mothers. During the floral art session, a professional florist carefully taught everyone how to select materials, match colors, and skillfully arrange bouquets. Many members, experiencing floral art for the first time, commented on how therapeutic and meaningful bouquet wrapping can be.

They expressed great anticipation to personally present the handmade bouquets to their mothers as unique Mother’s Day gifts. Besides the handmade bouquets, the organizers also prepared exquisite greeting cards, inviting members to write a message to their mothers. Whether it’s an “I love you” or long-unexpressed thanks, at this moment, the sincerest emotions are conveyed through pen and paper. Many members said this simple step was particularly touching, making this Mother's Day even warmer.

Kelvin Hii, the chairman of the Pujut SUPP Youth, stated that the purpose of organizing this Mother’s Day bouquet experience course is to remind young members not to overlook the meaning behind the holiday.

He said, “Mother’s Day is not just a holiday; it's a time for us to look back and learn to be grateful. There are many in our youth group who are already parents, and they should understand the hard work and dedication of parents. We hope that through such simple yet warm activities, everyone can express love and respect towards their parents while learning a new craft.”

He further emphasized, “Filial piety is one of the core spirits of Chinese culture. We encourage young people not only to cherish family ties but also to practice filial piety in their daily lives. We hope this event can inspire more young people to value their relationships with their parents and learn to actively express gratitude and care.”

This event not only enhanced the interaction and cohesion among the youth members but also allowed everyone to pause in their fast-paced lives and genuinely interpret their love for their mothers. The Pujut SUPP Youth also plans to continue organizing more activities that combine holiday and public welfare meanings, so that young people can learn to be more grateful and giving while serving society.

For this reason, if there are any youths aged 18 to 45 interested in joining the Pujut branch of the SUPP Youth, they can contact the chairman Chua Hoon Yong at 016-5229395 or visit the Pujut Youth's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/supppujutyouth and IG (@supppujutyouth).
