On the 8th, former Cambodian Prime Minister and Senate President Hun Sen published a post, attaching a photo and a 16-second video of Thai Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin.
In the footage, Anutin can be seen interacting closely and warmly with the Governor of Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey Province.
Hun Sen stated that he does not believe Anutin would gamble the lives of the military and people for future votes by declaring war on Cambodia, especially when the Cambodian army has not struck back.
He said that when Anutin was not yet prime minister, he was friends with Cambodia, but when he became prime minister, he forgot this friendship.
Hun Sen pointed out that he could understand Anutin’s patriotism, but one should not declare war on someone who has not retaliated.
Previous Relationship Cannot Be Compared With Thai Sovereignty
In response, Thai Government House Spokesperson Siripong said that the photos released by Cambodia are old, taken at a time when there were no border issues between the two countries. At that time, Anutin just visited Cambodian restaurants and temples as part of normal activities.
He said he understands that this is a strategy from the Cambodian side, similar to the extortion tactics of scammers.
He pointed out that the prime minister firmly stated that previous relationships cannot be compared with Thai sovereignty.
Siripong speculated that the Cambodian leader released this content possibly to incite attacks against Anutin.
