(Bintulu, 12th) The Bintulu District Disaster Management Committee (JPBB Bintulu) has urged the public to improve their disaster preparedness and prioritize the safety of themselves and their families, given that continuous rainfall may cause flooding in some residential areas.
The Committee Chairman, YBhg Datu Nyurak Keti, stated that all parties—particularly community leaders—should play a key role in disseminating flood-related information through official and authoritative channels, and refrain from spreading unverified information to avoid causing confusion or panic among residents.
He reminded road users to drive carefully in low-lying areas and flood-prone road sections to prevent accidents.

"Residents using boats as their mode of transport should also be cautious not to overload, and must strictly adhere to safety regulations during water activities," he said.
Nyurak made these remarks at the Sri Bintulu meeting room of the Bintulu District Officer’s Office after chairing the District Disaster Management Committee meeting on Sunday.
In addition, he urged the public to minimize going out and to stay at home for non-essential matters during periods of heavy rain.
Residents affected by flooding should immediately go to the temporary evacuation centers (PPS) as instructed by authorities, without delay, to ensure the safety of themselves and their families.
Similarly, fishermen should avoid going out to sea during bad weather or heavy rain and should obtain the latest information and advice from the authorities before undertaking any maritime activity.
Other attendees at the meeting included: Bintulu District Police Chief, Supt. Nixon Johsua Ali; Tatau District Police Chief, DSP Jame Reis; Bintulu District Officer, Awang Mohammed Nizam Awang Ali Bolhan; Tatau District Officer, Calvin Linggong Bujang@Endawie; Sebauh District Officer, Thadeus Ling Bartholomew Allu; and representatives from relevant departments.
