(Manila, 18th) The Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported today that as of the morning of the 16th of this month, a total of 7,501 households, comprising 23,918 individuals, have been affected nationwide by the combined impact of Tropical Storm 'Crising' and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). The affected areas include Central and Western Visayas and the Sultan Kudarat region of Mindanao, covering 56 villages.
According to the report, there are currently 115 households temporarily residing in 6 evacuation centers, and another 106 households have taken shelter with relatives or at other resettlement sites.
The Philippine Office of Civil Defense pointed out that 'affected households' refers to both those forced to evacuate and residents whose lives have been severely disrupted, even if they have not relocated.
In addition, adverse weather has forced the suspension of operations at 19 seaports in MIMAROPA, Central Visayas, and Northern Mindanao, impacting maritime transport and the distribution of supplies.
As of now, there have been no reports of casualties.
The national meteorological agency PAGASA issued a weather forecast today at 11 a.m., stating that 10 provinces in the Luzon region have been placed under Tropical Storm Signal No. 2, while another 10 provinces are under Signal No. 1. Tropical Storm 'Crising' is expected to make landfall in the vicinity of Cagayan or the Babuyan Islands this evening or tonight.
